Markus Büchler

Dr. Markus W. Büchler is the Chairman of the General, Emergency and Visceral Surgery at the University of Heidelberg, Germany – as affiliated with the German Cancer Research Centre, the European Laboratory of Molecular Biology and the Max Planck Institutes for Medical Research and Cell Biology. One of his primary orientations is that of pancreatic cancer. After his training in general surgery and cardiovascular surgery at the University of Berlin in the early 1980s, Professor Büchler took further surgical positions at the University of Ulm, Germany. He is a member of many international, European and North American professional surgical and medical societies. Additionally, Professor Büchler is the Editor of Chirugische Gasterenterologie, the Editor-in-Chief of Digestive Surgery, a member of the editorial board of Swiss Surgery and a council member of the British Journal of Surgery Society.
